Truth Hits Hard
Los Angeles - Sources from within the FOX corporation
today, confirmed rumors that actress Courtney Thorne
Smith was unhappy about the treatment her character
"Georgia" had been receiving on the show
throughout the past few weeks. Smith conveyed the
concerns she had to writer/producer David E. Kelley,
according to scrip supervisor, Kevin Tallon, during a
break in last weeks taping, in which she appeared for
only 94 seconds in the entire episode. Tallon, who had
overheard the conversation between the two, recounted Kelley's
response to the actresses complaints, and told reporters
that Kelley was apparently receptive to Smith, quoting,
"I understand what you're saying, Courtney, and I
make it a policy to consider any ideas my actors might
have. Tell me, what sort of treatment would you like to
see her given? Radiation? Or Chemotherapy perhaps? I'm
open to suggestions" After the conversation,
witnesses reported observing Smith to be stumbling about
the set sobbing uncontrollably as other cast members
looked on, cheering and applauding what they thought to
be a brilliant performance. It was not until later that
day, when the true cause of the outburst was apparent, that
fellow actors apologized to Smith. "We just thought
she was immersing herself in the character after hearing
about Billy's homosexual fling with Happy Boyle"
said Greg German, who plays "Richard" on the
show. "I know it's not polite to say so, but if she
could act like that on the show, I doubt she'd be having
these problems right now" Kelley was, according to
bystanders, sympathetic and attempted to calm Smith by
reassuring her, "Ok, Court, ok...it's all right,
you know you're still the fairest of them all to
me...now just calm down and get uncle Dave a cup of
coffee like a good little girl, OK?" |
