FOX Show A Sleeper
Hollywood Representatives of FOX studios
announced today that taping for the comedy "Ally McBeal" would be put on hold
indefinitely, until an answer can be found for the unexplained and numerous incidents of
narcolepsy reported on the set of the hit show. Officials for the Centers for Disease
Control confirmed today that a full investigation is underway in an attempt to discover a
cause for the alarming phenomenon. All members of the cast have reportedly been affected
with the exception of actor Gil Bellows who portrays the character "Billy".
"We are performing tests on Mr. Bellows to determine the reason for his
immunity" said Lawrence Becker of the CDC. While spokesman for FOX are quick to point
out no connection has been confirmed, some members of the crew have broken their silence
on the matter. Said Tyler Hanson, boom operator, "Man, I tell you...its him!
Its like that pillar of salt chick in the Bible dude, one look and youre
catchin Zs!" Although not a scientific conclusion, there does appear to
be some validity to Mr. Hansons theory since virtually all the occurrences coincided
with scenes in which the actors played opposite of Bellows. Adding to the controversy were
reports that Bellows himself, during a recent pre-air screening of the show, dozed off
during a scene involving himself and Calista Flockhart. Bellows, who just last week ,
suffered a harrowing experience involving outraged fans of the show, was quoted as saying,
"This is all I need", "I assure you that in no way am I responsible for
these incidents, and I am appalled at the insinuations that abound on this matter, since I
feel Im not to blame for any of it", "I mean, how could people think
Im causing this to happen? Im telling you its not me and as for that
screening thing, they had the heat way up which Im sure they blame me for too. It
doesnt make sense that I could be doing this and Im getting tired of people
suggesting that I am doing it when Im not doing it, you know?" - Pete
